Lottery fever has set in around Massachusetts as the two multi-state jackpot games hit the half-billion dollar range.Last night’s Powerball drawing boasted an estimated jackpot of $522 million, with a $270 million cash option. Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $400 million with a $205 million cash option. At Ted’s Stateline Mobil in Methuen, up against the New Hampshire border, owner Tony Amico said it’s about time the store sold a 2023 winner.“We’re due for one,” Amico said. The store sold a trio of $1 million winning tickets last year. Amico said the store begins seeing more foot traffic when the prizes reach eye-opening amounts.Once those numbers climb, Amico said, reinforcements are called in to help handle the foot traffic and ensure all five of Ted’s lottery machines are in order.“I normally have two or three employees here on average,” Amico said. “Today, I’ll have four to five,” he told the Herald Monday.Amico said it would be tough to even estimate how man...A Texas man who went missing as a teen in 2015 has been found alive, his family and police say

The Celtics added some depth to their backcourt on Monday, signing young guard Dalano Banton to a two-year deal, according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania.Banton is 23 years old and just finished his second season with the Raptors, where he only played in 31 games and logged nine minutes per game before he was not extended a qualifying offer, which made him an unrestricted free agent. The second year of his deal will be a team option, according to the Globe.Banton does not project to play significant minutes as it stands in the Celtics backcourt, where Derrick White, Malcolm Brogdon and Payton Pritchard are slated to take up much of the time. Still, Banton is an intriguing depth option as he continues to develop. The Nebraska product has unique size for a guard at 6-foot-9, 204 pounds, and can give the Celtics some flexibility and defensive versatility. He’s not a strong 3-point shooter – with just a 27.5 percent mark over two seasons – but has solid slashing ability ...Mets acquire RHP Trevor Gott from Mariners in exchange for LHP Zach Muckenhirn

MULTNOMAH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a father died over the weekend when he fell roughly 200 feet (61 meters) while hiking with his wife and five children in Oregon. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office on Monday identified the man as 41-year-old Gerardo Hernandez-Rodriguez of Beaverton, Oregon. Hernandez-Rodriguez was hiking with his family on a popular trail near Multnomah Falls, the state’s tallest waterfall, on Saturday, the sheriff’s office said. He stumbled and fell from a switchback not far from the falls and the scenic Benson Bridge, roughly 30 miles (48.28 kilometers) east of Portland. Sheriff’s deputies and a U.S. Forest Service ranger began to search the area, asking a nearby police department for a drone to help search the steep and largely inaccessible terrain. A sheriff’s deputy found Hernandez at the base of a cliff near a highway, directly below the trail where he slipped. Hernandez did not survive the fall, the sheriff’s ...Latest news
