TORONTO (AP) — Nick Taylor became the first Canadian in 69 years to win his national open, holing a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole to beat Tommy Fleetwood in the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday.Taylor tossed his putter into the air and jumped into the arms of his caddie after making the longest putt of his PGA Tour career, and fellow Canadian players Mike Weir, Corey Conners and Adam Hadwin were among those who ran out to the green to congratulate him. Hadwin was tackled by a security guard while spraying champagne from a bottle. The last player from Canada to win the Canadian Open was Pat Fletcher in 1954 at Point Grey in Vancouver. Fletcher was born in England; Carl Keffer had been the only Canadian-born champion, winning in 1909 and 1914.Taylor curled in an 11-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to finish at 17-under 271 at Oakdale for a 6-under 66. Fleetwood needed a birdie on the reachable par 5 to win in regulation, but he missed his tee shot right, laid up into an awk...Storms create more flood warnings for foothills, creeks and neighborhoods

PLANTATION KEY, Fla. ((WSVN) — A family in the Florida Keys came home late at night to find a 10-foot crocodile in their swimming pool, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned trappers to get the scaly intruder out.Cellphone video captured the moment Todd Hardwick with Pesky Critters Wildlife Control was able to catch the large reptile at a home in Plantation Key near Islamorada.“I got him, I got him,” said Hardwick as the crocodile roared. The homeowners said they found the animal taking a night swim in their pool.“It was just enjoying a soak in the pool when we got there,” said Hardwick. It was clear the reptile was not amused to see the trappers. It thrashed around in an attempt to get loose, but the trappers kept it right on its leash.“We started the capture, crocodile rolled quite a bit, threw a lot of water out onto the patio deck,” said Hardwick. “It made it quite slippery and little bit dangerous.”But just how did...A top EU official helps run a luxury hotel in Bali — and never had to tell Brussels

BRUSSELS — The European Union’s executive body requires all employees to submit their “outside activities” for scrutiny — an attempt to catch possible conflicts of interest before they become a problem. But buying a hotel in Bali? That apparently doesn’t count. In 2009, Gert Jan Koopman did just that, purchasing the plush Munduk Moding Plantation Nature Resort & Spa. Yet Koopman wasn’t a hotelier — he was, and is, one of the most senior officials within the European Commission in Brussels. At the time, the property was just five rooms. But over the next decade, Koopman, head of the EU executive’s powerful DG NEAR enlargement division, and his family developed the resort into a premiere destination, billed as an “eco-luxury resort” renowned for its infinity pool.During that period, Koopman and his family — who took over ownership at some point — visited the hotel regularly, were in frequent contact with its managers and signed off on developments, accordi...It’s time for more majority decision-making in EU foreign policy
