(NEWS10) -- There are some growing concerns from New York pot farmers who have more crop than they can sell, as the state’s recreational marijuana market rollout has moved slower than many expected. AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Montgomery County District Attorney Lorraine Diamond announced that an Amsterdam man has been sentenced on drug related charges. The charges stem from a 12-count indictment including criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, according to the DA. Upon his arrest by the Amsterdam Police Department, Roman-Calderon, who police say has 2 prior felony drug sale convictions, allegedly attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended. Detectives learned of Roman-Calderon’s drug activities through investigations. LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Shortly after midnight on Monday, the Colonie Police, the Town of Colonie Fire Services, and the Shaker Road Loudonville Fire Department responded to a brush fire at a roundabout on Albany Shaker Road. An individual was located nearby and further investigation determined the same individual caused multiple fires over the past few weeks. A juvenile involved in a “car surfing” crash that killed a 16-year-old in Douglas County last month has been charged with vehicular homicide and assault, prosecutors announced Monday.Douglas County sheriff’s officials said witnesses to the May 5 rollover crash told authorities the backseat passengers, including the 16-year-old, were hanging out of the car’s windows at the time of the accident on Quarry Road, east of Finn Avenue.The suspect, who is not being identified because they are a juvenile, is facing two felony charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, said Eric Ross, a spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. By Michelle Watson | CNNRobert Philip Hanssen, who received payments of $1.4 million in cash and diamonds for the information he gave the Soviet Union and Russia, has died, the Federal Bureau of Prisons announced Monday.Hanssen had been in custody at Colorado’s USP Florence ADMAX since July 17, 2002.“On Monday, June 5, 2023, at approximately 6:55 am, inmate Robert Hanssen was found unresponsive at the United States Penitentiary (USP) Florence ADMAX in Florence, Colorado,” a release from the Federal Bureau of Prisons said. “Responding staff immediately initiated life-saving measures.
