Navy veteran, 28, found shot to death inside tow truck on West Side

CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was found shot to death inside a tow truck on the city's West Side.Police said officers responded to a call of shots fired on the 3000 block of West Fifth Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Friday. Upon arrival, officers found 28-year-old Jack Jacobsen with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso sitting inside of the tow truck.According to police, Jacobsen was pronounced dead on the scene. A handgun was recovered next to the victim. A source said it appears there was some kind of altercation because two different kinds of shell casings were found.According to his attorney Thomas Glasgow, Jacobsen was a former Navy service member. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Court documents filed Thursday provided additional details surrounding a Tuesday homicide investigation in south Austin.According to court documents, police responded shortly before midnight for a call regarding a possible dead person in the 1100 block of Cumberland Road.When police arrived, a man’s body was found inside a vehicle, and Austin Police identified the man as 20-year-old Rickye Henderson. LA GRANGE, Texas (KXAN) -- St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange announced it is closing its doors and ceasing all operations next week. St. Mark's said in a press release, dated Oct. 4, that it will cease all operations effective 7 a.m., Oct. 12. The release said the closure results from St. Mark's "ongoing inability to meet its financial obligations."Earlier this year, St. Mark's transitioned to Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) designation that preserved emergency department services and most outpatient care while additional funding was pursued to offset a $13 million debt from mortgage, years of revenue shortfalls and rapidly escalating expenses, according to the release. AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 24-year-old male is facing charges following an investigation into drug activity in Amsterdam. Jesus M. Ortiz was taken into custody by the Amsterdam City Police on Thursday and was arraigned in the Amsterdam City Court. The arrest was made when a detective observed a vehicle that had been frequenting the area commit a vehicle and traffic law violation. Police conducted a traffic stop and interviewed the occupants. Ortiz was found to have a quantity of crack cocaine and powder cocaine, U.S. currency, and drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale and plastic bags.Ortiz was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
