These Illinois cities rank among the worst-paying areas for teachers in the US: analysis (NEXSTAR) -- Many teachers across the U.S. continue to face low wages, but in some metropolitan areas, an educator’s salary can stretch further than in others.The projected average national salary for public school teachers for the 2022-23 school year is $68,469, according to the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers’ union in the country. When adjusted for inflation, the average has declined by 6.4% over the past decade, the NEA said in its annual Rankings and Estimates report. One person killed in an explosion and house fire in Oneonta ONEONTA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- One person is dead following an explosion and house fire in Oneonta on Saturday, Dec. 10. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Otsego County 911 Center began receiving multiple calls about an explosion and house fire on Richards Avenue. The Oneonta Fire Department arrived on the scene and saw multiple residences had suffered serious damage, and one of the homes was on fire. Once the was fire was put out, one person was found dead inside one of the homes, the Otsego County Sheriff's Office said. Another person from a neighboring home also received medical attention for minor injuries they suffered during the explosion. Road closures in Albany due to water main break The investigation into the explosion is still ongoing, but the Sheriff's Office says there is no threat to the public. Over a dozen Albany eateries competed to see who makes the area's best chili and chowder. Keobi on Lark Street was crowned as the Best Chili for the second year in a row, while fellow Lark Street restaurant TapAsia won Best Chowder for its fourth straight year.The runner up for Best Chili was Copper Crow on Broadway, and the Best Chowder runner up was Subculture on Lark Street. The event coincided with the yearly Santa Speedo Sprint.
