PALM CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida Amazon driver was hospitalized Monday after being bitten by a "highly venomous" snake while making a delivery, deputies said.The Martin County Sheriff's Office said the driver was delivering a package to a home in the Highland Reserve Community in Palm City at the time of the incident. ‘Don’t pull the trigger!’ Video shows deputy talking down teen who killed mom, officials say When the driver set down the package in front of the home's front door, she was bitten by an eastern diamondback rattlesnake that was coiled up nearby.Deputies said the driver immediately became ill and cried out for help. TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Former Super Bowl champion and New York Giants running back Dion Lewis was arrested Monday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida.Arrest documents show Lewis was taken into custody by Seminole Indian Police around 2 p.m. and booked into the Orient Road Jail of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office an hour later.Lewis was charged with trespassing in an occupied structure. Crews are working to resolve an "important" maintenance procedure in the water distribution system for many in Jersey County. EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Madison County taxpayers might be forced to expend more than a quarter of a million dollars following more than a dozen failed lawsuits filed by only two former county employees.According to a news release from the Madison County State's Attorney's Office, the county's legal fees over litigation brought by former county administrator Doug Hulme and former information technology director Robert Dorman stood at roughly $272,000. “It’s a sadly typical case of frivolous lawsuits driving up costs for taxpayers,” said Madison County State's Attorney Tom Haine. “I hope it stops soon, so local taxpayers don’t continue to suffer this waste of resources merely to ward off meritless lawsuits by just two individuals.”After an investigation into acts of malfeasance, Hulme and Dorman were terminated from their county jobs in 2020.
