DETROIT (AP) — Taylor Moore and Monday qualifier Peter Kuest shot 8-under 64s to share the first-round lead in the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Thursday, with a slew of players chasing in what’s expected to be a shootout.Dylan Wu had the third albatross on the PGA Tour this season and shot 65, joining Sam Ryder, Aaron Rai, Ludvig Aberg, Sam Bennett, Justin Suh and Adam Schenk.Collin Morikawa was among those two shots back while Rickie Fowler was three off the lead at Detroit Golf Club.While many took full advantage of favorable conditions on a relatively easy course, some notable names were nowhere near the top of the leaderboard.Max Homa, the only player in the field ranked in the top 10 in the world, shot a 3-under 69. DENVER (KDVR) — A severe thunderstorm that hit the Denver metro area on Thursday afternoon brought a deluge of rain that flooded Interstate 25 and left a mess in its wake.Plows were clearing dirt and debris that had piled up in the right lanes of southbound I-25, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. CDOT said heavy rain washed it onto the interstate, affecting traffic near West 23rd Avenue. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver Fire Department conducted a search of a vehicle that was submerged in flood water just west of Interstate 25 on Thursday afternoon.DFD said the car was submerged near West 38th Avenue and Fox Street. Dive crews got in the high-standing water and searched the vehicle and confirmed there was no one trapped inside. (CNN) — A university janitor who turned off a freezer after hearing multiple “annoying alarms,” ruined more than 20 years of research, according to a lawsuit filed against his employer by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate New York.The janitor, who is not being sued in the lawsuit, was a contractor with Daigle Cleaning Systems Inc., who worked for several months in 2020 at the private research university in Troy.The school is seeking more than $1 million in damages and legal fees from Daigle Cleaning Systems as a result of the incident.The lab’s freezer contained over 20 years of research, including cell cultures and samples, to which a “small temperature fluctuation of three degrees would cause catastrophic damage,” according to the lawsuit filed with the Rensselaer County Supreme Court.The college does not believe the janitor is at fault but instead blames Daigle Cleaning Systems for failing to properly train and supervise him, according to the suit.“Defendant, by an...Latest news
