SAN DIEGO -- A woman was struck by a car Wednesday after the vehicle jumped a curb in the Mira Mesa neighborhood, authorities said.The crash occurred around 11:58 a.m. at 8350 Mira Mesa Blvd, the San Diego Police Department watch commander said in a news release.A 27-year-old driver was turning from southbound Camino Ruiz onto eastbound Mira Mesa Boulevard when his 2017 Fiat Spider lost traction and began to fishtail, according to police. That caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, hitting an 18-year-old woman and then striking a MTS bus bench. CORONADO, Calif. -- Coronado police arrested one person Wednesday after a "suspicious device" was found.Police were investigating a domestic violence incident at a home in the 300 block of H Avenue when they were led to believe there was a suspicious package there, Capt. Dustin Kulling said to FOX 5.Police evacuated the surrounding homes, established a perimeter and blocked the roadway to vehicular traffic while a bomb squad was called to inspect the device. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Nicaragua has released 12 Roman Catholic priests jailed on a variety of charges and sent them to Rome following an agreement reached with the Vatican, the Nicaraguan government said in a statement late Wednesday.The government of President Daniel Ortega said that the priests were flown to Rome Wednesday afternoon following productive talks with the Vatican. ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. — One person is dead and another is injured after a high speed crash followed a reported home invasion in Round Lake Beach Wednesday afternoon.According to the Round Lake Beach Police Department (RLBPD), officers were called to a domestic home invasion around 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Beachview Drive.Police said the caller told them the male subject trying to break in was involved in a previous relationship with the person living where the home invasion was taking place, and after the 911 call, the male subject left the property in a 2010 Nissan.As officers were driving to the residence on Beachview Drive, police spotted the 2010 Nissan fleeing the scene heading westbound on Rollins Road.
