A global NATO is not helpful to global security

Over the years, while claiming to be a regional defensive alliance, NATO has been hyping up regional tensions and creating bloc confrontation. NATO has publicly stated on many occasions that it remains a regional alliance and does not seek a geographical breakthrough. Asia lies beyond the geographical scope of the North Atlantic and has no need for a replica of NATO. However, NATO, as a military organization of the North Atlantic, has been bent on going east into the Asia-Pacific, interfering in regional affairs and inciting bloc confrontation. This calls for high vigilance among countries in the region. The attitude of the majority of countries in the region is very clear. They oppose the emergence of military blocs in the region. They don’t want NATO’s replica of bloc confrontation around the world. And they certainly will not allow any Cold War or hot war to happen again. At the 2022 Madrid summit, NATO adopted a new Strategic Concept, claiming that NATO allies will address togeth...Piedmont resident robbed after returning home from bank

The Black Lives Matter movement hits a milestone on Thursday, marking 10 years since its 2013 founding in response to the acquittal of the man who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.Gunned down in a Florida gated community where his father lived in 2012, Martin was one of the earliest symbols of a movement that now wields influence in politics, law enforcement and broader conversations about racial progress in and outside the U.S.BLM activists and organizations plan to mark a decade of the movement with in-person and virtual events. BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Fernando Almeyda Rodriguez and Remy Hernandez are two friends from Cuba, bound by a joint struggle for democracy in their country. But that comes at a price. The two men — Rodriguez is 31 and Hernandez 27 — were forced to flee Cuba in the aftermath of mass protests in 2021 to avoid persecution for their activism. An unlikely migration route brought them to Serbia — on the Balkan peninsula, at Europe’s southeastern edge — where they sought political asylum. Rodriguez and Hernandez chose Serbia because it was among the few countries in the world that did not require entry visas for Cubans. But Belgrade has since revoked the open travel regime, closing down a passage into Europe used by fleeing Cubans for decades.Serbia made the decision under pressure from the European Union, which it wants to join. Belgrade was also forced to impose visas for the citizens of countries such as Burundi, India or Tunisia which have become a source of migration into the 27-na...Former teen performers accuse an agent of sexual assault. The story has all the elements of a major #MeToo reckoning, but in Japan, response has been muted. While opposition politicians set up a committee in parliament to investigate, and the talent agency Kitagawa founded promised to do the same and offered a brief apology, the news still rarely makes the front pages or lead television news broadcasts.Kitagawa shrugged off similar allegations for decades. National media almost completely ignored the story, and Kitagawa’s business continued to thrive, even when a Tokyo appea...Latest news
