2 small earthquakes shake the Bay Area

(BCN) -- Two earthquakes of 2.6 magnitude rumbled Sunday around the Bay Area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The first occurred at 3:21 a.m. in the foothills east of San Jose centered in the Joseph D. Grant County Park in Santa Clara County. The next one struck at 11:19 a.m. just inside the northwest corner of Sonoma County north of Big Sulphur Creek. No injuries were reported in either quake. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, people typically report being able to feel earthquakes larger than about magnitude 2.5. Kingston Indigenous Languages Nest (KILN) will soon be starting to build a new community garden in City Park.The garden will be the first one owned by KILN itself, with the organization previously borrowing space for on the land programming from community partners like Walking the Path of Peace Together who operate an Indigenous food sovereignty garden on a plot of land next to Highway 15.Working alongside KILN, ther City of Kingston put out a call for community consultation last summer to see what people thought of building two smaller vegetable and medicine gardens at the edge of City Park along King Street, near the former site of Sir John A Macdonald’s statue. (KDVR) — The Adams and Broomfield counties district attorney announced that a man was sentenced to 25 years to life for sexually assaulting his girlfriend's 8-year-old daughter.According to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office, 38-year-old Christopher Mills was sentenced to 25 years to life in the Department of Corrections. "This defendant preyed on an eight-year-old girl," said District Attorney Brian Mason. "His actions were absolutely despicable and the jury, judge and my prosecution team rightly held him accountable for them."In 2019, the DA said Mills sexually assaulted his girlfriend's 8-year-old daughter. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A shooting Monday at a bank in downtown Louisville killed at least four people and wounded at least eight others, police said. The suspected lone shooter was also dead.Louisville Metro Police Department Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey told reporters officers who arrived on the scene “encountered active gunshots still being fired inside the location at that time.”Officers exchanged gunfire with the shooter, who appeared to be a former employee of the bank, but it wasn't clear how he died.
