For a second straight year, a Bulls 1st round pick faces the same challenge

CHICAGO — The Bulls' 2020 first round draft pick didn't get what he might have hoped for on Monday.But if Patrick Williams is looking for an example of what to do in order to get what he's ultimately hoping for, he needs only to look at a teammate.On Monday, the Bulls chose not to exercise the rookie-scale contract extension for the forward as he prepares for the 2023-2024 season. Because of that, Williams will be a restricted free agent at the end of this season, putting pressure on him to perform over the next 82 games. Yet to see an example of how to make that happen and get a new contract from the Bulls, he needs only to look at Coby White's situation from a year ago. California DMV suspends permits for self-driving taxis

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The California Department of Motor Vehicles has suspended the permits and vehicle deployment for Cruise's driverless taxis, citing "an unreasonable risk to public safety."The suspension is effective immediately. The DMV said its autonomous vehicle regulations "provide a framework to facilitate the safe testing and deployment" of autonomous vehicle technology on California's public roads. "When there is an unreasonable risk to public safety, the DMV can immediately suspend or revoke permits," the DMV said. Man arrested for setting south St. Louis County pallet fire

MEHLVILLE, Mo. -- A man is accused of setting wooden pallets on fire that damaged a south St. Louis County retailer's fence. Joseph Blalock, 31, is charged with "Knowingly Burning or Exploding." He is currently being held in police custody on a $50,000 cash-only bond.The incident started on Thursday, October 12, 2023, when security cameras captured Blalock stacking trash and wooden pallets behind the Floor & Decor store in South County. On October 14, 2023, he was seen on video tossing an item onto the pile, which led to a fire that damaged a fence owned by Floor & Decor. Police say that shortly before starting the fire, Blalock was recorded on video smoking a cigarette at a nearby gas station. He has confirmed his identity in the video footage. Last month, a Santa Barbara woman went viral for being captured on video making racist statements towards a Latino construction worker. Now, more video has surfaced of the same woman going on a second racist rant to another Latino man. The footage from the first video – taken on Sept. 16 – sparked a local protest, the Los Angeles Times said, with hundreds of people flooding the streets of Santa Barbara in protest of what they deemed to be a “racist encounter.” In that incident, the woman – identified by the Times as Jeanne Umana – enters a home down the street from hers despite the construction worker who was recording telling her that it was a private construction site. “I live here.
