The kid delivered for the Rockies on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Coors Field, putting Saturday night’s debacle to rest.Rookie shortstop Ezequiel Tovar, 21, hit a solo home run in the fifth and drove in another run with a single in the seventh to lift the Rockies to a redemptive 4-3 victory over the Angels. The win took some of the sting out of Colorado’s 25-1 loss to the Angels on Saturday night — the worst loss in franchise history.Of course, nothing comes easy for these Rockies. Eduardo Escobar hit a two-out triple in the ninth off of closer Justin Lawrence and scored on Mickey Moniak’s single. Lawrence intentionally walked Matt Thaiss before getting pinch-hitter Luis Rengifo to grounded out to third baseman Ryan McMahon. The Angels’ 25 runs and 28 hits set franchise records on Saturday, but their bats were quieter Sunday when they had eight hits. The Rockies had just five hits but they delivered when they had to.Related ArticlesColorado Rockies | ...SF Giants come up short of sweep against Arizona

SAN FRANCISCO — Logan Oretl had known he was gay for as long as he could remember. But as the 20-year-old stood by Market Street — in the thick of waving rainbow flags, dancing drag queens and a flurry of bubbles — on Sunday, he said he’d never felt more accepted.“I’m not used to seeing so much open love, and to finally be able to walk around without feeling afraid,” said Oretl, who had flown — for the very first time — from his small town in Ohio to attend San Francisco’s 53rd pride parade. “It’s nice to be able to just be happy.”Oretl was just one of an expected million attendees at the parade, which flooded down Market Street Sunday morning. Politicians gave out hugs to attendees soaked in glitter; people in inflatable unicorn costumes chatted with members of the city’s rainbow-clad fire department. San Francisco’s streets were bursting with people — all there despite an increasingly hostile political climate and a pandemic that has hit the city hard.Today, ther...Man dies in overnight crash in Sunnyvale, DUI suspected

PHOTOS: Suspected DUI driver careens over Santa Cruz cliff Around 2:25 a.m., DPS and fire personnel were called to the scene of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. As emergency responders arrived, they saw that the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, and an unresponsive driver and two passengers were trapped inside. Emergency personnel attempted to extricate the male driver, but due to fire conditions, they were unsuccessful. He was declared dead at the scene. Two passengers, a man and a woman, were found at the scene with "major injuries," DPS said. Both passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Initial information on the crash shows that the vehicle was heading west on Old San Francisco Road when it collided with a building. The passengers who survived the crash are cooperating with the investigation, DPS said....Mets walk 3 batters, hit 2 and make 1 error in 8th-inning meltdown and lose 7-6 to Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Brett Baty hesitated getting the ball out of his glove. Josh Walker failed to throw the ball over the plate. Jeff Brigham threw his baseballs directly at Phillies hitters.Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner couldn’t escape the wild ones and the Phillies sluggers were plunked in consecutive at-bats. The Mets simply couldn’t get out of their own way in a fundamental breakdown in the eighth inning that turned almost comical — at least for Phillies fans — as they choked away a sure thing. The final tally, for those keeping score at home, the Phillies walked three times, were hit twice, reached on an error and had just one hit in a 10-batter, four-run eighth inning that set off a 7-6 win over New York on Sunday.“Crazy one,” Turner said “Kind of weird. Lot of fun.”Even by the Mets’ sometimes-feeble standards throughout their history, that was an amazin’ meltdown.“I’m not sure if I’ve seen it before,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said. “The chances are unlikely, I...Dodgers place Chris Taylor on the injured list and expect Max Muncy back vs. the Rockies

Muncy, who has not played since June 11, is tied with Mookie Betts for the team lead with 18 home runs. His 45 RBIs are tied with Betts for third.“Max looked really good,” Roberts said after Muncy took live at-bats Sunday. “Just talked to him briefly and I just can’t imagine him not being at third base on Tuesday. And then we’ll probably give him a day off that Wednesday, and then back in th...Brewers’ Miller beats his former team with an RBI double in the 10th in 5-4 win over Guardians

CLEVELAND (AP) — Owen Miller hit a tiebreaking double in the 10th inning against his former team and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cleveland Guardians 5-4 on Sunday.Miller’s one-out double against Trevor Stephan (3-3) hit high off the left-field wall and scored automatic runner Joey Wiemer from second base. Miller, acquired by Milwaukee from Cleveland in December for cash, dived headfirst into second base and pointed to the Brewers’ dugout in celebration.“I figured that he’d throw a first-pitch fastball,” Miller said. “I had taken some earlier in the day from other pitchers. I figured it was a big moment and I let it go there.” Miller played the last two seasons for Cleveland and was a “little bit surprised” about the trade.“I think most guys are when they’re traded,” he said. “I appreciate my time in Cleveland. I thank them for everything. They gave me a ton of opportunities to come into the league and grow as a player. I have nothing but good things to say.”...Padraig Harrington wins back-to-back at Dick’s Sporting Goods Open with a big finish
