Due to their size and weight, mega-ships are fueled by heavily polluting fossil fuels. These fuels emit air quality pollutants that harm human health and add greenhouse gas emissions that disrupt our climate.2. Read more Letters to the Editor.Powering homes withcars is nothing newI had to smile today when I read the lead story, “How your car can power your home.” (Page A1, April 17) Heck, we were doing that with a Land Rover 30 years ago when we lived in Tanzania.We were on the faculty of a theological college where the voltage was “220 volts plus or minus 220 volts.” Seriously.Because of this, I put together a system of battery chargers, golf cart batteries, an inverter, and a collection of meters and relays that stored power when it was available and automatically switched over to power lights, computers, music systems and whatever when it was not.At times, though, the electricity deserted us for several days and things went flat. That’s when we started the Land Rover and ran cables into the battery pack. It wasn’t fast, but it was reliable.Eventually, we broke down and bought a generator. Green Foothills was proud to lead the Protect Coyote Valley coalition, which successfully campaigned for all of Coyote Valley to be zoned for open space and agriculture in 2021. POST’s purchase helps create a permanently connected corridor of open space where wildlife can cross the valley safely.Sadly, a few Coyote Valley landowners are still trying to pave over their land rather than steward it responsibly. A few are suing the city of San Jose to try to get their land rezoned for development and seeking permits to build an energy facility there. This is unfortunate. Suspects detained after shooting at Pleasanton Home Depot

PLEASANTON, Calif. (KRON) -- The Pleasanton Police Department is investigating a shooting at a Home Depot Tuesday afternoon. At this time it is unknown whether there are any victims. The Home Depot is located at 6000 Johnson Drive. Suspects were detained in connection to the incident, PPD said. People are asked to avoid the area. Antioch police search for 2 bank robbery suspects

(KRON) -- The Antioch Police Department is asking for the public's help in searching for two suspects accused of robbing a bank on April 10. The robbery occurred at the BAC Community Bank, located at 3448 Deer Valley Road, at about 12:37 p.m. APD said two suspects entered the bank and gave the teller a note demanding money. They were given an undisclosed amount of money and left.
