Snow on the way: Twin Cities could see several inches — and thunderstorms More snow is expected to the hit the Twin Cities in the coming days.The National Weather Service says a winter storm is expected bring snow to the metro Friday night into Saturday morning. There is a high chance for 4 inches or more and a moderate chance for totals to hit 6 or more inches.The weather system will first bring rain starting Thursday. That’s expected to turn into a wintery mix Friday evening before the snow starts. There should also be strong winds Friday afternoon into early Saturday morning.The weather service notes that thunderstorms are possible Thursday and Friday.Thursday is expected to see a high near 40 and Friday’s high is expected to be near 42. Most reports are about an active shooter. Police are keeping the public updated and informed while they investigate. Police advise the reports are completely unfounded and all students and staff are safe. East Greenbush schools are currently in lockdown as a precaution because of threats made against multiple schools in the area. Maple Hill high school is currently in lockdown while Castleton Elementary is in lockout.
