Two former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies who were involved in the fatal shooting of Andres Guardado in 2020 have been indicted in a separate case alleging false imprisonment.Miguel Angel Vega and Christopher Blair Hernandez face federal charges alleging they violated the civil rights of a skateboarder at a Compton park by falsely imprisoning him and obstructing justice to cover it up, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.The former Compton deputies surrendered to federal authorities Thursday morning after being named in a five-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury last month.Vega and Hernandez are being charged with conspiracy, deprivation of rights under color of law, witness tampering and falsification of records, officials said. Federal Transit Administration announces $21B in funding to support public transit; California receiving over $2B

The Federal Transit Administration has announced more than $21 billion in federal funding to support public transportation across the country, with California receiving more than $2 billion of what is the largest-ever annual investment in American public transportation. The funds will go toward investment to help improve public transport by upgrading stations and tracks, transitioning to next-generation buses, planning and designating new transit corridors, and providing specialized service for seniors and riders with disabilities, according to a statement made by the FTA. California is set to receive $2,007,146,138 in annual transit funding. (KRON) -- A Cal student reported she was injured after a suspect threw a rock at her on campus Thursday afternoon, according to the University of California Police Department, Berkeley (UCPD). The alleged attack happened around 12:30 p.m. near César Chávez Student Center.The unknown suspect is described as a male, dark skin and heavy build. Police said he was wearing a black sweatshirt with red or brown pants. UCPD is calling this an aggravated assault.
